Yosemite Compost Facility Mariposa County is building a state of the art, multimillion dollar composting facility to handle the consequences of three and a half million visitors each year at Yosemite Park. CHP Tire Pile Flyover Under contract with the Board, the California Highway Patrol documents illegal tire piles in the State, the most recent flyover being in Sonoma County. Glass Beach Cleanup The CIWMB has authorized the cleanup of the famous tourist attraction Glass Beach on the beautiful Mendocino Coast, once used as the city dump. Cal/EPA Headquarters Energy Awareness Month October is Energy Awareness Month in many parts of the world. Here at Cal/EPA we are always looking for new and inventive ways to conserve energy. Cal/EPA Headquarters Technology Collaboration The video, developed for Cal/EPA's booth at the 2002 Government Technology Conference, shows the collaborative information technology efforts undertaken by the Board and other departments under Cal/EPA since moving into the headquarters building in 2000. Food Scrap Recycling at Large Public Venues With a grant from the CIWMB, the small city of Indian Wells worked with the Tennis Gardens Complex to create a comprehensive recycling program, focusing on food scraps, which is becoming the model food recycling program in the state. (6 minutes).

Playground Cover Installation The Board offers several grant programs to fund installation of playground cover made from used tires. This video shows the City of Modesto's playground surface being installed. (Windows Media, 102 Kbps, 5 minutes)

Local Government Innovations In March 2000, the Board presented the "Innovations" video conference to showcase successful recycling and waste reduction programs developed by local and regional jurisdictions to achieve California's 50 percent waste diversion goals.

Used Oil Recycling Public Service Announcements The Board awards grant funds to local governments and nonprofit organizations for developing used oil and household hazardous waste collection and public educational programs. Many of these grants included development and broadcasting of public service announcement videos regarding used oil and household hazardous waste.
