New Publications for Permanent Facility Design ![]()
As the household hazardous waste stream has expanded, local
jurisdictions are increasingly considering the option of building new
permanent HHW facilities to accommodate rising
volumes. In response, CIWMB has published the
Permanent
Household Hazardous Waste Facility Guidance Document
and
Permanent Household
Hazardous Waste Facility Design Manual.
The purpose of these documents is to assist jurisdictions that are
considering building permanent HHW facilities. The first document
provides an introduction to and overview of the facility design process,
while the design manual contains more details, including how to assess
the need for a facility, facility/operations costs, and regulatory
requirements.
Statutes and Regulations. References to statutes from the Health and Safety and Public Resources Codes and regulations governing the used oil and household hazardous waste programs.
Web Resources. Links to external web sites related to household hazardous waste.
