The Electronic Waste Recycling Act of 2003 (SB 20 and 50, Sher) became law on September 24, 2003. As this legislation and associated regulations are implemented, workshops will be held to inform affected stakeholders and other interested parties.

- February 21, 2008
The California Integrated Waste Management Board will host a
focused stakeholder meeting for
participants in the covered electronic waste (CEW) recovery and
recycling payment system and associated interested parties. The
topics will be potential adjustments to the CEW recovery and
recycling payment rates, and/or the electronic waste recycling fees
that fund the program. The event will be held from 9:00AM to 4:00PM
on Thursday, February 21, 2008, at the Cal/EPA Headquarters
Building.

The California Integrated Waste Management Board hosted a general stakeholder meeting for participants in the covered electronic waste (CEW)
recovery and recycling payment system and associated interested
parties. The event was held from 9:00AM to 4:00PM on Monday,
November 5, 2007, at the Cal/EPA Headquarters Building.
- January 31 and February 7, 2007
The California Integrated Waste Management Board
hosted a web-based training for approved
collectors and recyclers on the annual net cost reporting requirements. Participants in the covered electronic waste (CEW) recovery and recycling payment system took part in
this training from 10:00AM to 11:00AM on January 31, or from 2:00PM
to 3:00PM on February 7, from the comfort and convenience of their own office desks.
- November 30, 2006
The California Integrated Waste Management Board hosted a regulatory update workshop for stakeholders interested
in learning how the permanent regulations compare and contrast with
the emergency regulations that governed the covered electronic waste
(CEW) recovery and recycling payment system for nearly two years.
Participants in the CEW system (collectors and recyclers) were
encouraged to participate in this event from 1:00PM to 5:00PM on November 30.
- February 16 and 23, 2006
The California Integrated Waste Management Board hosted a web-based training for approved collectors and recyclers on the annual net cost reporting
requirements. Participants in the covered electronic waste (CEW) recovery and recycling payment system took part in this training from 3:00PM to 4:00PM on February 16, or from 10:00AM
to 11:00AM on February 23, from the comfort and convenience of their own office desks.
- February 7, 2006
The California Integrated Waste Management Board discussed proposed draft final regulations governing the CEW payment system at its
Sustainability and Market Development Committee meeting on February 7, 2006, at the
Cal/EPA Headquarters Building.
The outcome of this discussion was direction to file a formal notice of rulemaking.
- January 5, 2006
The California Integrated Waste Management Board hosted a
general stakeholder workshop to
discuss the rulemaking process for final regulations governing the
covered electronic waste (CEW) recovery and recycling payment system from 9AM to 3PM on January 5, 2006, at the
Cal/EPA Headquarters Building.
An audio web-cast was available for a portion of this
event.
- November 8, 2005
The California Integrated Waste Management Board will consider revisions to
existing emergency regulations at its
Sustainability and Market Development Committee
meeting on November 8 at the
Cal/EPA Headquarters Building.
- October 24 and 26, 2005 Workshops: Universal Waste
The Department of Toxic Substances
Control (DTSC) held workshops to discuss whether to
extend the February 8, 2006 expiration data for the existing
exemption for households and Conditionally Exempt Small Quantity
Generators of Universal Wastes to dispose of certain universal
wastes in the solid waste stream. More information on these

The California Integrated Waste Management Board
hosted a workshop for stakeholders to consider
proposed revisions to the existing emergency regulations on October 19, 2005 from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Cal/EPA Headquarters Building.

The California Integrated Waste Management Board heard revisions to existing emergency regulations at its
Sustainability and Market Development Committee meeting on October 4 at the
Cal/EPA Headquarters Building.
- The CIWMB and the Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC)
held a joint workshop for interested parties regarding emergency
regulations and final rulemaking on Tuesday, August 23, 2005 from 9:00 a.m. until approximately 4:00 p.m. at the Cal/EPA Headquarters Building in Sacramento.
- A focused stakeholder meeting on the topics of complying with emergency regulations and
identifying the "next generation" of covered electronic devices was held
Friday, April 8, 2005, at the
Cal/EPA Headquarters Building.

- Training Workshop for Collectors and Recyclers were held November
29 in Sacramento, November 30 in Berkeley, December 1 in San Diego, and
December 2 in Glendale.
- November 3 and 9-10, 2004
The California Integrated Waste Management Board
