Electronic Product Management: Implementing the Electronic Waste Recycling Act of 2003

The California Integrated Waste Management Board has adopted regulations to implement portions of the Electronic Waste Recycling Act of 2003. This landmark legislation established a funding system for the collection and recycling of certain electronic wastes. A key element of the Act that affects local governments is the availability of recovery and recycling payments to approved participants for certain collection and recycling activities. All parties are encouraged to familiarize themselves with both the statute and regulations.

  • E-Waste Updates: An E-Mail Newsletter
    The CIWMB is committed to keeping stakeholders apprised of developments in its work to implement the Electronic Waste Recycling Act of 2003. To this end, the CIWMB will send out regular e-mail messages to subscribed interested parties.

As the Integrated Waste Management Board (CIWMB), in consultation with the Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC), works to implement this important legislation, more information will be available through this website. Note that any guidance provided by the CIWMB should not substitute for careful reading of the original statute or subsequent regulations.
